The Crookstown Inn Pub was established in 1846. Crookstown Inn traded as a public house for 154 years until it closed in 2000, when the pub was demolished for the construction of the new road.
The “Old Inn “ site is actually right under the current sign for the Pub and Restaurant.
In June of 2005 the Crookstown Inn re-opened with the addition of a Restaurant Shackleton’s Rest taking its name from the local (Kilkea) explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton.
